WOW, Roses do Smell Nice

First of all, I encourage you to only read this post when you have some free time…I’m breaking some blogging rules and am calling for some web interaction here and I think it sends a better message if you take your time and think about it for a minute or two....

Below are two links. One is to an article, the other is to a short video clip (I recommend reading the article first... come on its short). To be honest, I’m not sure how much I am going to ponder here but none the less I just wanted to bring this lecture to your attention if you haven’t already caught it somewhere else. Some food for thought. In fact, I first heard this in a business class, and it was a good reason to day dream through the rest of the hour and half. I think sometimes we miss the big picture of things and I thought this could be used to check up on our priorities… its too easy to get caught up and loose sight of the important things… plus, I have been told that I am always on the go and trying to get so much into one day that I sometimes forget to “stop and smell the roses”… this article did just that …. So take a whiff….

Professor delivers passionate 'last lecture'

First the obvious… Hows our bad day look??? I wish I had half the courage Dr. Pausch has…to be put into a situation where your life is practically a countdown and deliver with such a positive attitude filled with humor and encouragement can only be described as … Priceless (thanks visa;). But seriously, how many of us could really do that, and I don’t mean the push ups. Geez I mean I get frustrated when there are dirty dishes in the sink or when there is nothing to eat in the house … or even with the people I love. Take a second and reread some of the things he talks about … "Brick walls are there for a reason. They let us prove how badly we want things." He encouraged us to be patient with others. "Wait long enough, and people will surprise and impress you." Funny isn’t it, a man whose days are numbered is encouraging us to “be patient and wait.” You would think that he would have got up there preaching to pull a Time McGraw … sky dive and ride that fucking bull named Fumanchu!!! But he approached it in an entirely different way, almost to slow down and be patient with the ones you love, or the ones trying to love you. The most precious gift you can give anyone is simple to me and that’s “your time”. Timing is everything in life, whether it be in sports, business, or relationships. So just make sure you see who your giving your time to and who is giving theirs, because you can’t get it back. There is no “one” Message here … but I think we can all apply it to something in our lives. I mean I encourage you to find your brick walls in life and knock’em down…don’t just stand there looking up, whatever they may be. But don’t forget to enjoy it … common cliché time … its not about the destination its about the journey. My point is … don’t get caught up in all the petty BS that life brings you. Cherish the relationships in your life and don’t forget to listen every once in a while … listen hard enough … you might be surprised what your hearing, whether its advice or another door knocking when one closes. I know im not giving the deepest advice or saying something genius here…. but maybe we should all take some of life’s so called problems and put’em in quotations…

A little extra.
